Nilaya is dyed with natural indigo in three successive dips, which is why the blue reads differently in daylight and lamplight. The cotton-silk ground is woven in Bhagalpur and finished with a plain selvedge — no zari, no motif. It is meant to be worn often, and it improves with wearing.
