Gulika is woven in wild tussar from Gopalpur, with the uneven slub that only reeled wild silk gives. The border is hand-painted in the Kalamkari manner with a vine of pomegranate in madder and iron black — drawn with a bamboo pen, not printed, so no two sarees carry the same line.
